Currently serving as the head coach of the South Africa men’s team, Boucher earlier made an abrupt announcement that he would be leaving the role following the 2018 T20 World Cup. Former long-serving Proteas wicketkeeper Boucher has been the team’s head coach since December 2019. Before their recent 2-1 series loss in England, Boucher coached a young South African team to the top of the World Test Championship standings.

MI recently made changes to its coaching structure, which were followed by the hire of more support personnel. Mahela Jayawardene, who has been the head coach of the Mumbai Indians since 2017, has been replaced by Zaheer Khan, who formerly held the job of director of cricket operations until last season. They both will participate in one of the three teams that the group has.
