IND vs AUS 2022: Saba Karim is not happy with the peformance of Indian fielders

After the Men in Blue missed three crucial catches during the opening T20I match against Australia on Tuesday (September 20) in Mohali, Saba Karim questioned the Indian cricket team’s fielding.

The former selector claimed that India’s significant fielding errors, made the most of opposition’s batters opportunity.

He also mentioned the lack of discipline in the bowling team. As a result, they could not stop Australia, the World T20 champions, from scoring 208 runs.

Karim remarked on the India News:

“Yuzvendra Chahal didn’t bowl well and bowled flat on a flat wicket. We need bowlers who bowl properly and on the right length, at least the yorker length. Overall, India’s biggest mistake was dropping three catches, and as a result, their set batters took advantage.”

He went on:

“Another thing is that when defending a target, we must bowl with discipline in terms of length and direction, which we lacked.”

Karim reiterated that losing catches frequently was the main factor in the hosts’ defeat to Australia on Tuesday in Mohali. He stated:

“Our ground fielding and catching were dismal. Every run matters; If Axar Patel had taken the catch of Cameron Green, Australia wouldn’t have been able to chase down the big target. Steve Smith also added a few runs after the catch drop.”

In the eighth over, when Australian opener Cameron Green was batting on 42 (19), Axar Patel dropped him; in the ninth over, when Steve Smith was batting on 18 (13), KL Rahul failed to hold on to a catch from Smith.

When Matthew Wade was batting on 23, off his own bowling, in the 17th over, Harshal Patel also failed to take the catch .
