Team India’s Asia Cup campaign got off to a strong start with a victory over Pakistan, their bitter rivals. In a tense match on August 28, Men in Blue overcame Pakistan by 5 wickets. Against Pakistan, India’s bowling attack appeared powerful, and the team didn’t seem to be without the services of veteran Mohammad Shami and pace ace Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah was unable to compete in the Asia Cup due to a back injury, but Shami was not chosen for the multi-nation competition. Madan Lal, a former cricketer for India, thinks Shami still has a lot to give in the game’s shortest format. Madan Lal recently claimed that the decision to bench Shami by the selectors was a grave error.

Madan Lal, a member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, continued by saying that the Indian selectors would be making a serious error if they didn’t choose Shami for the crucial ICC competition. He continued, “He is a superb bowler and has previously performed well in Australia. I don’t understand why they are not picking him for T20s. Do you honestly believe that he isn’t a better bowler than the current players? He is among the top cricket bowlers in the world.

India’s bowlers displayed excellent form in the tense contest against Pakistan. The Pakistani hitters were subjected to a torrent of short balls from Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s pace attack for India.
