Widely considered one of the best midfielders of all time,Xavi was renowned for his passing, vision, ball retention, and positioning. In November 2021, Xavi was appointed as manager at his former club Barcelona.
Thiago Alcântara do Nascimentois a professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Premier League club liverpool and represents the Spain national team.After helping Spain to European Championships at under-19 and under-21 levels, he made his full international debut in 2011. Thiago was part of the provisional squad for Spain in the 2014 World Cup but withdrew due to a knee injury. Thiago was selected for UEFA Euro 2016, the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and UEFA Euro 2020.
Barcelona head coach Xavi is interested in signing Thiago Alcántara, according to Sky Sport. The 30-year-old, who joined Liverpool last season, is not guaranteed a regular spot in Liverpool’s midfield three under Jurgen Klopp. Xavi has plenty of midfield options at his disposal, including Pedri, Sergio Busquets, Frenkie de Jong, Nico and Gavi, but Xavi is reportedly keen on signing Thiago, who he knows well from his time as a player at Barca.
Xavi is said to have already discussed the possibility of signing Thiago with Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta.Thiago has a strong connection with Barcelona having joined the club as a youngster, but it could prove difficult to prise him away from Liverpool.
The 30-year-old has only played 90 minutes once in the Premier League for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, with a calf injury keeping him out for five games.The Spain international has had a trophy-laden career. After winning an array of honours with Barcelona, he won seven Bundesliga titles and one Champions League at Bayern, as well as lifting the German Cup on four occasions.
Thiago joined Liverpool in September 2020 and will hope to win his first silverware with the club this season.Former Barcelona star Xavi has taken over a team languishing in ninth place in LaLiga.Barcelona can call upon Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong in midfield, while they also have some very talented youngsters in Pedri, Nico Gonzalez and Gavi.If they were able to sign Thiago, however, it would provide the team with greater experience in that department.
Xavi has already secured a deal to re-sign one of his old Barcelona team-mates, with 38-year-old right-back Dani Alves returning to the club.
