Virat Kohli is having a successful long-term period under Test captaincy also he is one of the world-class batsmen. Virat Kohli got their first opportunity as test captain in the absence of Dhoni in the year 2014 later he got a full-time captain chance in the same series immediately after Dhoni’s Test retirement. Later his success in the test even overseas has made him grab the captaincy even in the limited-overs formats both ODI and T20 after Dhoni retirement. But till today date he even passed away the record of Dhoni in test captaincy and has the record of most successful test captain that includes also in overseas. He has also been a most successful player with the bat.
After a defeat against South Africa it seems like Kohli has went through a lot rough time and within span of a day has declared about he stepping down as a Test captaincy and made a tweet as mentioned ” It’s been 7 years of hard work, toil and relentless perseverance everyday to take the team in the right direction. I’ve done the job with absolute honesty and left nothing out there. Everything has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test captain of India, it’s now. There have been many ups and also some downs along the journey, but never has there been a lack of effort or lack of belief. I have always believed in giving my 120 per cent in everything I do, and if I can’t do that, I know it’s not the right thing to do. I have absolute clarity in my heart and I cannot be dishonest to my team. I want to thank the BCCI for giving me the opportunity to lead my country for such a long period of time and more importantly to all the team-mates who bought into the vision I had for the team from day one and never gave up in any situation. You guys have made this journey so memorable and beautiful. To Ravi Bhai [Shastri] and the support group who were the engine behind this vehicle that moved us upwards in Test cricket consistently, you all have played a massive role in bringing this vision to life. Lastly, a big thank you to MS Dhoni who believed in me as a captain and found me to be an able individual who could take Indian cricket forward.”
As soon Kohli has posted these tweets the BCCI Vice President instantly responded that Jay Shah has thanked him for his services for the team and has reminded him that his victory overseas, especially against Australia & England, has been special in tests. Coming to records so far he played 213 matches that have 135 wins and 60 losses and 11 draws with 3 ties. Especially he had 40 wins in Test career and 16 are from overseas and is the leading cricketer as the best Test Captain. Surely this is a heartbreaking moment for many cricket fans missing him in captaincy from now on in all formats but many former cricketers have appreciated him for his hard work and said still we can see him much better with the bat. Now there is a lot of rumors for the next India Test Captain. Anyways it’s a lot painfull moment to miss his aggressive captaincy to end.
