When India plays South Africa at home in a series of one-day internationals beginning on October 6 in Lucknow, veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan will once more serve as the team’s captain. After the same number of T20s, a three-match series will begin, with games taking place on September 28, October 2, and October 4, respectively, at Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, and Indore.
The T20 World Cup-bound players are likely to be rested, thus Dhawan will take over as captain, per news agency ANI. In place of head coach Rahul Dravid, the NCA chief and former India batter VVS Laxman is also anticipated to be with the team as a coach.
Dhawan might not be important to India’s plan for the T20 Internationals. But he is one of the most important players in the side when it comes to the 50-over format. He had previously steered India to a 3-0 victory over the West Indies earlier in July.
In August, he was also supposed to lead the Indian ODI team against Zimbabwe. However, the selector made the decision to give KL Rahul, who was making a comeback after an injury layoff, the captaincy.
