Ross Taylor has decided to retire from international cricket. He is a terrific player in all formats and he announced his retirement on the occasion of the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh, and six ODIs against Australia and the Netherlands next year. He is the first player in history to make 100 international appearances. Coming to his career stats Taylor holds a record of most Test runs of 7500 plus and in ODI format has 8500 plus runs. He played a crucial role in many key matches and led the team on a winning path.
Taylor has stated these lines expressing his feelings on retirement stated as “It’s been an amazing journey and I feel incredibly fortunate to have represented my country for as long as I have,” he said. “It’s been such a privilege to play with and against some of the greats of the game and to have created so many memories and friendships along the way. But all good things must come to an end and the timing feels right for me. I want to thank my family, friends, and all those who have helped me get to this point. There’ll be plenty of time for more thank-you and reflections later in the season – but for now, I want all my energy and focus to be on preparing and performing for the Black Caps this summer.” Kane Williamson said that Ross Taylor is a World-class player.
