Those who bat last bat better in cricket at the Dubai International Stadium, if you only knew one thing about the game. The toss has frequently been crucial at the location, whether it was in the two IPL seasons that were held there, the T20 World Cup last year, or the ongoing Asia Cup. Five of the seven games played there so far have been won by teams batting second, including India’s losses to Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Because of this, India’s captain Rohit Sharma believed the toss would not decide the outcome of the T20 World Cup in Australia the following month.
In a recent BCCI video, Sharma and Virat Kohli spoke, with Kohli saying, “Hopefully, the toss will not play the factor there, and we will simply bring our best in Australia.” Kohli scored his 71st international century on Thursday against Afghanistan to earn India’s player of the match honours.
Sharma spoke with Kohli in the video about the various aspects of his batting that enabled him to snap a century drought of more than a thousand days as well as the team’s overall performance as they won by 101 runs to exit the continental championship.
“Kaafi special din tha humare liye…as a team humne baat kari thi pichle match ke baat ki kis attitude se field pe aate hai is match mey, wo humare liye matter karega” Kohli said.
