His IPL career started in 2013 as a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore but moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad later. He returned to RCB for the 2016 season but he was released from the team in 2018. Kings XI Punjab took this opportunity to buy him for a whopping 11 crore. And he showed that he is worth the investment by scoring a total 659 runs that season including 6 fifties. He also holds the record of fastest fifty in IPL which came off 14 balls.
In the IPL 2021 he has shown impressive performance as a batsman, scoring 221 in 5 matches. But as a captain to live up to the expectation till now losing three of the five matches played.
EOIN MORGAN:
Morgan has been associated with KKR for a long time. Though he spent 2015 and 2016 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad and 2017 with Kings XI Punjab, he made a comeback Kolkata 2020.
This left-handed batsman who is also the captain of the England national team is known for his calm and composed captaincy just like his counterpart MS Dhoni. He is also credited with his consistent gameplay and giving support to the team in the middle office as a batsman.
He took over the captaincy of Kolkata Knight Riders in the middle of season 2020 from Dinesh Karthik. But the 2021 season seems to be a disaster for him so far. He has failed to live up to the expectation of his fans both as a batsman and as a captain. She has cold only 45 runs in the five matches played and also suffered 4 back to back losses. He will be under huge pressure in today’s match.
