Nasser Hussain, a former England cricket captain, has successfully attempted to create a record for the highest catch of a cricket ball ahead of the England versus Pakistan test series, which begins on July 14.
Hussain succeeded in catching a cricket ball thrown from a Batcam drone that was hovering in the air at 32 metres (104 ft 11.8 in) above the ground during a challenge hosted by Sky Sports Cricket earlier this week at the renowned Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
Despite the windy conditions that day, Hussain proved his competitive spirit by not being content with this record and going on to catch a ball from a height of 49 m (160 ft 9.1 in).
The ball reached an approximate speed of 74 mph before landing safely in the cricketer’s hands. Hussain – who captained the England cricket team between 1999 and 2003 – spoke at the event: “Sky Sports are always looking to push the limits and be innovative in their approach to coverage, and this was certainly a very different experience for me.” “It was great fun to spend the morning attempting to catch cricket balls dropped from a drone at the home of cricket – something I never thought I would do. But I am looking forward to giving my hands a rest and getting back to the commentary box for the upcoming Test match,” he continued.
