In the fight between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, the burden is on the Mumbai Indians' middle order

Mumbai Indians Batsmen have had a difficult time in IPL 2021 adjusting to a slow Chennai surface, particularly as the ball has aged. The lack of runs from Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya, who have pulled off some incredible heists in the past, has been most noticeable for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. With the exception of Pollard’s unbeaten 22-ball 35 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, none of them have contributed significantly with the bat. In four innings, Pollard has scored 49 runs, while Hardik and Krunal have scored 35 and 26 runs, respectively. Bowlers have held Mumbai Indians in the game until the final over in all four matches, resulting in victories over KKR and SRH and last-over losses to RCB and DC.

Rohit Sharma and Mahela Jayawardene on Mumbai Indians’ middle order woes in the IPL 2021

Though the team’s management is unconcerned at the moment. Rohit Sharma and Mahela Jayawardene have stated that the middle order should do better than it has so far.

“We can do better in the middle overs. The (Chennai) pitch is getting slower and slower, bowlers are always in the game till 20 overs. Even the seamers, it’s not easy to get them away and the slowish nature makes it harder for the batter to slog straightaway,” said Rohit.

“On a given day, depending on the opposition how you approach can have that different variable. They are not unplayable wickets. They are good competitive wickets and adjusting to those challenges is always the key for any batsman. I think we’ve been consistent with that approach. It’s been challenging but we have adapted pretty well. Sometimes we’ll make mistakes and that’s part of the game”. Jayawardene said on the eve of the match against Delhi Capitals.

PBKS VS MI PREDICTIONS – VIVO IPL 2021

The Mumbai Indians face the Punjab Kings in their final match in Chennai on Thursday, and the trio will be hoping to get back on track. After that, MI will play their next four games in New Delhi, where the pitch will not be as slow as it was in Chennai, but it will still be slow.
