The long wait is over, as Motera is all set to conduct its first match, starring India and England in a day night test match. This match will kick start on the 24th of February. The previous stadium commonly called as Sardar Patel Stadium was demolished and this new stadium was built as a whole new ground. The stadium also hosted an addresal when Trump had come to India. There were many records broken in this very place. It gave rise to legends and the place itself gives a divine feeling to all the cricketers out there.

Amazing Facts

1. The reconstruction of the stadium had a whooping budget of 800 crores.

2. It has the largest seating capacity (110000 seats) when compared to all other cricket grounds in the world.

3. For the first time in the history of world cricket, flood lights are replaced by LED lights attached all around the stadium in a ring of fire style.

4. It has a sump system which has a technology to absorb all the rain water within 30 mins, and would allow the game to resume soon.

5. It has a field size of 162 X 170 yards with Australian Grass.

6. It has a seating capacity more than Lords, Melbourne and Johannesburg combined.

7. First match at this venue was played in the year 1983, and reconstruction started in the year 2017.

8. First international match will be played between India and England in the day night test match.

9. The stadium has 25 luxury cabinets for VIPs and VVIPs.

10. The stadium also holds a Olympic size swimming pool outside the playing field.

11. In total there are 11 practice pitches, provided there are also two small stadium surrounding the main stadium.

The new pitches generally have a lot of grass in them and will provide more movement to the ball. The batsmen has to be careful during the twilight period, as this ground is in favorite of pacers more than spinners. It will be completely a whole new experience for the players when compared to the conditions and pitches in Chennai.
