IPL 2021 : Cricketing Fraternity comes in support and aids India financial support during Covid-19 crisis.
Due to mounting public pressure and increasing ineptitude, a number of cricketers and teams have donated generously to the COVID efforts in India. Many cricketers’ contributions to COVID-19, as well as their social media presence, could make a significant difference in the country’s battle against the deadly second wave of the coronavirus that has recently swept the country.
Australian Support
Pat Cummins was the first cricketer to make a significant COVID-19 donation. The Australian pacer declared that the $50,000 (INR 37.3 lakh) amount had been handed over to UNICEF Australia to assist their COVID crisis appeal in India, which was originally made out to the PM CARES fund to help procure oxygen equipment for the region. In addition, Cricket Australia has contributed $50,000 to UNICEF Australia’s appeal. Several Indian cricket fans were grateful for Pat Cummins’ donation.
In addition to the Australians’ charitable contributions, iconic fast bowler Brett Lee has pledged 1 Bitcoin (approximately INR 41 lakh) to Crypto Relief. Lee’s assistance is also intended to help Indian hospitals purchase oxygen supply. He is currently a member of the Star Sports analyst commentary team.
IPL Teams and Indian Players financially aid for Covid-19
Apart from these, the Rohit Sharma COVID-19 donation is one of the most notable. The funds, totaling INR 80 lakhs, are divided into four categories: INR 45 lakhs for PM-CARES, INR 25 lakhs for Maharashtra CM’s Relief Fund, INR 5 lakhs for Feeding India, and INR 5 lakhs for street dog welfare. The COVID-19 donation for 2021 by Rohit Sharma is yet to be announced.
Shikhar Dhawan of Delhi, who has been in outstanding form this year, has been added to the list. Dhawan pledged INR 20 lakh to Mission Oxygen, a non-profit that helps hospitals and patients obtain oxygen equipment. He also said that he would donate any money received from post-match awards to the charity. Jaydev Unadkat also won hearts when he revealed that he would donate 10% of his IPL 2021 salary. The Rajasthan Royals being the first team to do so, donating INR 7.5 crores.
Many unions and athletes have attempted to offer direct assistance to charities in addition to monetary assistance. Hardik and Krunal Pandya donated 200 oxygen concentrators to rural India. Delhi & District Cricket Association pledged 100 oxygen concentrators and 100 BPAP-B non-invasive ventilators to the cause. The Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers have also promised equipment and money, bringing the tournament’s count to a considerable high.
