HAM vs ESS

HAM vs ESS Match Preview :

HAM vs ESS On Friday, the Hampshire Hawks will face the Essex Eagles at the Rose Bowl in Southampton in a South Group T20 Blast match.

The Hampshire Hawks will be unhappy with their T20 Blast performances thus far this season. They will, however, head into the game with a lot of confidence after winning their last T20 Blast encounter by a huge 75 runs against Somerset CCC. The Hawks have only won three of their 11 T20 Blast matches, putting them in seventh place in the South Group points standings. If they wish to advance to the quarter-finals, they must win all three of their remaining matches.

The return of their skipper James Vince, who is coming off his first international century against Pakistan, will give the Hawks hope. Hampshire will be hoping to keep their winning streak going in today’s game in the Rose Bowl.

The Essex Eagles, on the other hand, have been a bit of a mixed bag in the T20 Blast this season, finishing slightly ahead of their opponents in the South Group points standings with five victories from 12 games. They were defeated by the Sussex Sharks by seven wickets in their previous match and will be hoping to get back on track tonight. If they want to stay in the title race, they need to win this game.

The Eagles will be bolstered by the return of their star all-rounder Dan Lawrence.

When the two teams met earlier this season in the T20 Blast, the Hawks registered a 13-run victory over the Eagles.

Match Details

Match: Hampshire Hawks vs Essex Eagles, South Group, T20 Blast

Date & Time: 16th July 2021, 06:30 PM IST

Venue: The Rose Bowl, Southampton.

Pitch Report

The pitch at the Rose Bowl is overall a flat batting wicket. However, the pacers are expected to procure some initial swing with the new ball in hand. The spinners might also come into play as the game progresses. Batting first upon winning the toss could be a good choice as the wicket tends to slow down and it becomes difficult to bat on in the second innings. Anything around 180-190 should be a good first innings score at the venue.
