Trent Boult was freed from his contract with New Zealand Cricket earlier this month so that he could spend more time with his family.
The 33-year-old left-arm fast bowler has lately discussed the rising difficulty of touring overseas with a young family at home with national cricket officials.
Boult will still be eligible for selection for New Zealand, however, it is probable that contractual players would be given precedence.
Former New Zealand all-rounder Scott Styris has now spoken out on the development, calling it a “surprising” move. He did, however, defend Boult, claiming that the tight timeline had pushed players’ hands.
Trent Boult: “Nobody Thought That Trent Boult Is Going To Finish Up This Quickly”.
“First, it caught everyone in New Zealand—certainly the cricket-watching public—by surprise. Nobody anticipated that Trent Boult would wrap up so rapidly and soon. “It is also a little unfair to say he is chasing money. It’s time now that he prioritizes the format he enjoys, like Ben Stokes. “I don’t think cricket can afford to lose the likes of Stokes and Trent Boult, two of the best cricketers in the world right now, away from the international game.”Styris said.
However, Styris believes Boult cannot be held responsible for the call. Styris believes the international game will suffer greatly if star players like Ben Stokes and Tyler Boult are not included.
