Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been ruled out of the team due to a knee injury, dealing a major setback to the Pakistani national side ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. Following the release of his most recent scans and reports on a problem with his right knee ligament, Afridi was advised to take 4-6 weeks off from playing. In the first Test match against Sri Lanka at Galle last month, the left-arm bowler was hurt while fielding.
He will keep travelling with the squad and keep working on his recovery. Afridi won’t be able to return before the beginning of October, according to the team doctor.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has acknowledged that Afridi’s participation would have been the X-factor going into their high-stakes opening match of the Asia Cup 2022 against India.

Additionally, according to Babar Azam, all games are treated equally and no special emphasis is being placed on this particular one. “There isn’t any heat. As a professional, you must make adjustments to everything, thus it is not normal. Every game is significant to me, and it is my responsibility as captain to offer everything I have. We simply strive to do our best. The T20 World Cup contest is over; tomorrow will bring a new day. You are confident, but the big day for the game will determine everything,” he remarked.
“Everyone looks forward to the India vs. Pakistan game. It’s crucial to have fun with this game. Our bench strength is impressive, yet accidents do happen and they are unavoidable.
