People in Afghanistan flocked to the streets to celebrate Sri Lanka’s sixth title victory after their Asia Cup 2022 victory over Pakistan. The island nation is now experiencing a terrible economic crisis.
After defeating Pakistan by 24 runs in the Asia Cup final on Sunday in Dubai, Sri Lanka won its sixth trophy thanks to a brilliant half-century from Bhanuka Rajapaksa and ferocious spells from pacer Pramod Madushan and spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. According to a video posted by Afghan journalist Abdulhaq Omeri, there was a huge celebration in the street after Sri Lanka’s victory.

Social media was used by users to both celebrate Sri Lanka’s victory and make fun of the Pakistani team’s final performance, particularly when fielding.

Under the ICC article about Sri Lanka being named champions, a user made fun of Pakistan for failing to defeat Sri Lanka in both of their games whereas Afghanistan managed to do so once.
The user stated, “We beat the Asia Cup champions yet you lost twice.”
Another person included a video of Afghan supporters dancing in the streets in celebration of SL’s victory under the same post.
