Tim David, a cricket player from Singapore, looked great as he hit the practise nets during his first session in India.
The all-rounder could be seen slamming the ball and seemed prepared for the three-match T20 series, which begins on Tuesday, in a video posted to Twitter.
David gets his maiden call-up to the Australian squad for the series in India. David has dominated T20 franchise cricket over the past 18 months.
In light of his successes in the shortest format, the 26-year-old was also chosen by the selectors for the forthcoming T20 World Cup to be held on home soil.
After selling for an astounding $8.25 crore in the big auction, David exploded for the Mumbai Indians this season. In eight IPL games for the five-time champions, the right-handed batter kept up a strike rate of 216.28, filling in for Kieron Pollard, who was out of sorts. In the T20 Blast this year, he also scored 405 runs for Lancashire in 17 games at a strike rate of 174.56.
Tim David received high acclaim from Glenn Maxwell, who noted that he takes cautious risks and has improved his game. The Victorian added that the IPL success of the all-rounder is evidence of his prowess against pace and spin.
According to Maxwell ,”One of the rare things he has which there isn’t a whole lot of in Australia is just raw power. He’s probably developed his game a little bit over the last two years where he’s got a bit more off-side, so he’s not a one-dimensional hitter, he’s able to clear the boundary in different areas. He does it against spin and quicks which is something that’s really impressive and something that impressed me during the IPL as well watching him go about his business.”
