THE DRAMATIC COMEBACK OF ASHWIN IN THE SHORTEST FORMAT

Ravichandran Ashwin the Ace Spinner in Indian Cricket has been a test specialist bowler for quite a few years now and he wasn’t picked in the playing 11 against England despite his performances on the Australia tour.

The injury of Washington Sundar has paved way for Ashwin and a Call to the T20 Squad nearly after a 4 Year gap Which no one would have expected.

Though he was purely picked as a backup and horses for courses as India didn’t have another off Spinner other than Washington Sundar.The performances of Ashwin in the Ipl has also led him to getting the opportunity.

Ashwin the mastermind performed well in the practice matches picking up 2 Wickets against Australia and went Wicket less against England but was economical in a high Scoring game.

Varun Chakravarty was picked ahead of Ashwin for the First two matches and Varun Chakravarty failed to deliver the goods with bowl going wicketless in both the Matches.

Ashwin was picked in the Playing 11 after nearly 4 years and he didn’t disappoint with the ball he bowling an outstanding spell of 2/14 in his 4 overs.It was a dream comeback in a crucial game for Ashwin.

He Carried his good form picking up 4 Wickets in the next two matches against Scotland and Namibia respectively.

With the announcement of Rahul Dravid as new head coach and With a new Captain to take charge from Virat Kohli the changes are inevitable Ashwin Could be seen playing regularly in the T20 and ODI setup if the selectors feel for the need of experience for the two Upcoming mega ICC Events,the goal for the Indian team will be to lift both the trophies that have been eluding them since the 2013 Champions trophy.

Ashwin has 413 test wickets,150 Odi Wickets and 58 T20 Wickets and he has been a key player for india over the years with some outstanding performances.
