The Indian cricket team is travelling to Australia for the T20 World Cup in 2022 and is banking on Rohit Sharma and company to end the country’s drought for an ICC championship. While players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and others will be leading India’s effort, a few seasoned veterans who may be playing in their final T20 World Cup will also be on the field. There is a fair balance of newcomers and seasoned players on the Indian cricket team. Some of them are on the verge of turning 30, therefore it could be challenging for fans to envision them being selected for T20 World Cups after this year.
Formerly known as a “Test specialist,” Ravichandran Ashwin has significantly improved in white-ball cricket. Ashwin was selected for the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2022 as a result of his exploits in the Indian Premier League. But given that Ashwin is already 35 years old, it is difficult to imagine him participating in another T20 World Cup.
Despite being only 32 years old, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has recently dealt with a number of injuries. One of the main causes of his poor performances for the Indian team has been his conditioning. Bhuvi could not be a lock for the Indian team given that the next T20 World Cup is set for 2024.
Pressure is mounting from people like Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, Umran Malik, Prasidh Krishna, etc.
Dinesh Karthik: Dinesh Karthik represented India in his debut T20 World Cup in 2007. The wicket-keeper batter’s career has been a roller-coaster, but Karthik once again found himself selected for the Indian team for the T20 World Cup in 2022. Even though he is still capable of finishing at the age of 37, the same cannot be predicted for him in another two years.
