India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will play in Warwickshire’s final three first-class matches in the County Championship in September. Siraj, who is currently playing for India in the One Day International series against Zimbabwe, has not been included in India’s squad for the Asia Cup set to begin on August 27.
Siraj becomes the sixth Indian player to be signed up for this year’s English domestic competition. He has quickly established as one of the key members of India’s fast bowling contingent in Test cricket after making his debut on the tour of Australia in 2020-2021 series.
In 13 Tests for his country so far, he has picked a total of 40 wickets at an average of 30.77. The young seamer will be looking to get his rhythm back after he had a slightly difficult outing in India’s last two Test series.
“I can’t wait to join up with the Bears squad. I have always enjoyed playing in England with India and I’m excited to experience County Cricket,” he said in a statement released by the club.
The right-arm quick will arrive at the club ahead of their contest against Somerset CCC on September 12. He is currently participating in India’s three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.
Siraj will be the second Indian player to represent Warwickshire this season after Krunal Pandya signed up for the Royal London Cup One Day Cup.
