Pakistan will want to maintain the momentum when they play Afghanistan in their next matchup after putting up a strong performance against their bitter rivals India in the Asia Cup’s Super 4 round. Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is not competing in the Asia Cup, was interviewed by Pakistan’s pacers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah prior to the match
Shaheen informed the pair on his recovery throughout the virtual conversation and urged his colleagues to win the Asia Cup from this point forward. Shaheen, who is out with a knee injury, let the pacers know
: “Rehab is going well with weight training. I will be bowling in two weeks time”.
He then quickly adds: “Six pack (abs) aaya hai little bit” to which Rauf responds: “yes, you have plans to become an actor later, right?!”
Shaheen also expressed a desire to see more yorkers from the pair in the death overs during their conversation, and the pacers promised to deliver on that promise in the upcoming match. He also praised Rauf for his brilliant performance in Pakistan’s five-wicket victory over India.
A humble Rauf then quips: “Aap ki bathaye hue .. aap guru ho! (Just following your path, you are the guru!”
In the final over of the contest against India, Rauf bowled superbly. He began with an extra, but against a determined Virat Kohli went on to bowl three dots in a row, the third of which was an unplayable yorker. Despite his precise bowling, Fakhar Zaman misfielded twice in the last two balls, which cost the bowler 10 runs in the final over.
Shaheen signed off the video telling his teammates: “Asia cup nahi jaani chahiye (Asia cup shouldn’t go (out of our hands)”.
