In the opening T20I, India will play Australia in Mohali. India played outstanding batting and gave Australia a 209-point win target. India got off to a fast start thanks to KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma, but Rohit left after just 11. Soon after, Virat Kohli followed.

KL and Suryakumar Yadav The Australian bowling was then countered by Rahul, who thereafter played some ferocious smashes. Suryakumar was knocked out for 46 and Rahul was removed for 55 off 35 balls. The Indian inning was led by Hardik Pandya, who delivered one of the finest innings of the competition. Pandya struck 71 runs off 30 balls, including four sixes and seven boundaries.

Aaron Finch and Cameron Green launched a vicious attack on opening bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav as Australia responded with full force. In his first over, Green smacked Yadav for four straight boundaries.

Aaron Finch was replaced by Axar Patel, who was introduced by Rohit. Finch attempted a slog but was clean bowled before he could connect. Cameron Green was caught by Chahal in front of the wickets in the following over. Green crossed over and attempted to sweep to the side. He missed the ball, though, and it landed on his pads. Unexpectedly, LBW received no appeal.

Replays afterwards revealed that the ball was headed for the stumps. Rohit was incensed at the bowler and the wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik for not protesting when he saw the video on a large screen.
