Indias domestic match Ranji Trophy is previously all set to take place on January 13th, 2022. After seeing huge growth in the Covid cases the BCCI has made a few tests for or the player ahead of the tournament and has noticed that 6 Bengal players are tested positive. Henceforth the tournament won’t start as per the scheduled dates along with it other domestic tournaments such as Col CK Nayudu and senior Women’s T20 League have also been postponed. The previous season of the Ranji Trophy was also postponed due to the Pandemic. This seems to have a huge strike on many more upcoming schedules if the Covid cases increase in the same way.
The board also stated as “BCCI does not want to compromise the safety of the players, support staff, match officials and other participants involved and hence, has decided to put the three tournaments on hold till further notice. The BCCI will continue to assess the situation and take a call on the start of the tournaments accordingly”. As several rumors are going around that the Covid might have an impact on the upcoming tournaments also and might have some more postponed. Previously before this announcement, it was said by the BCCI President that the tournaments will go as per the schedule later said they might shift from Mumbai. But the expected date to start back is not yet known so need to wait till further notice.
