Punjab kings appoints new head coach for the team

In preparation for the upcoming season of the franchise-based T20 tournament, Punjab Kings of the Premier League named Trevor Bayliss as the team’s new head coach on Friday.

Anil Kumble will be replaced by Bayliss after Punjab Kings decided not to extend the former India cricketer’s contract due to the team’s consistently subpar performances under his leadership.

“It is an honour for me to be the Punjab Kings’ head coach. a successful franchise built on a solid basis. I’m excited to work with a talented team of athletes who are eager to compete for honours, “Bayliss made the declaration in a franchise statement.

Having won two IPL championships with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and the 2019 50-over World Cup with England, Bayliss will provide expertise to the team.

In addition to his BBL championship with the Sydney Sixers and two IPL championships with Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012 and 2014, Bayliss will offer his expertise from winning the 2019 ODI World Cup with England.

In addition, Bayliss led Sunrisers Hyderabad during the 2020 and 2021 IPL seasons. Punjab Kings had missed the IPL play-offs three times in a row while Kumble was their coach.
