Mahela Jayawardene Comes Out In Virat Kohli's Support says ,"I'm sure He will Come Through This....''

Kohli and a fit-again KL Rahul on Monday returned to a 15-member Indian squad for the Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Dubai and Sharjah from 27 August to 11 September.

Kohli is enduring his worst slump in form and has not scored a century in international cricket since November 2019.

Former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene reckoned that Virat Kohli has the ingredients to arrest his slump in international cricket. Of late, the Delhi-born Kohli has come under fire for not being able to perform on a consistent basis. Back in July, Kohli got plenty of starts on the tour of England, but failed to get a substantial score under his belt.

The veteran didn’t go on the tour of the West Indies and won’t be a part of India’s campaign in Zimbabwe either. Jayawardene spared a thought for Kohli, but also sounded confident of the Indian batter’s return to form.

“It is unfortunate what Virat is going through right now at the moment, but he is a quality player. I believe Virat has the tools to come out of it (the form slump). He has done that in the past as well and I’m sure he’ll come through this. Class is permanent and form is temporary,” Jayawardene was quoted as saying to Sanjana Ganesan on the latest episode of The ICC Review.
