Know why Virat Kohli will be the centre of attention during the Australia T20I series

It comes as no surprise that Virat Kohli, one of the most recognisable figures in cricket, will be the subject of intense scrutiny when on an overseas assignment. But for the former Indian captain, the next T20I series against Australia, which gets underway on Tuesday, September 20, will be especially important.

Kohli appears to be in great spirits after scoring his 71st international hundred, which has been a long time coming. His status in the T20I team was questioned, but he now seems prepared to ignite another T20 World Cup. In addition, Team India will be scrutinised after a poor Asia Cup in which they lost in the Super 4 round.

Virat Kohli will be the centre of attention during the T20I series against Australia for the following three reasons.

1)Against Australia, Virat Kohli will bat at position three.

Without a question, Virat Kohli plays his greatest T20 cricket at the top of the order. For the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he scored 973 runs in a single Indian Premier League season, and only recently, he hit a century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup.

However, Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, has stated that he will bat first alongside KL Rahul, allowing Kohli to bat at No. 3. Naturally, Kohli has batted in this position for the majority of his T20I career, but in recent years, his performance in the middle overs has declined.

2) One of Kohli’s favourite opponents is Australia.

In Twenty20 international cricket, Virat Kohli has a tonne of records versus Australia. He has the most half-centuries, the most sixes, the most runs in a bilateral series, the most runs overall, the highest individual score, the highest average, and the most runs. The 33-year-old simply enjoys competing against the Kangaroos.

 3) Virat Kohli will need to build on the Asia Cup

Both Virat Kohli’s brilliant Asia Cup 2022 campaign and his breathtaking first T20I century are still recent memories. Kohli turned heads with his comeback to runs, finishing the tournament as the second-highest run scorer.

He will have to demonstrate that the continental competition wasn’t a fluke and that the player who swept the world of cricket is actually back.
