James Anderson, a renowned Test pacer for England, recently made history when he became the first fast bowler to amass 950 wickets in the annals of international cricket. In the second Test of the series against South Africa, Anderson accomplished the feat. With his powerful swing, Anderson, a pacer who is defying ageing to do remarkable accomplishments in virtually every game lately, has terrorized hitters from all over the world. Many people see of him as one of the greatest fast bowlers in history, yet earlier this week, Anderson named two cricketers who don’t appear on his Twitter timeline: Rishabh Pant and Glenn McGrath.
Prior to Anderson breaking his record last week, McGrath, one of the best pacers in the game, held the record for the most wickets by a fast bowler. When the fifth Test of the series was postponed, Pant attempted the shot again at Edgbaston for a double. Last year, Pant garnered some attention for his somewhat unconventional reverse-sweep boundary attempt against Anderson.
Pant and McGrath made a cameo in a video where Anderson was requested to narrate the list of phrases he has muted on his Twitter timeline, in addition to “reverse,” “sweep,” and “reverse-sweep.”
The term “Clouderson,” a troll name given by supporters who assert that Anderson only performs in cloudy settings, was also included on the list. The phrase “worse than Steyn” was also on the list.
Anderson has participated in 174 Test matches so far, and he is still 36 wickets short of the 700-wicket threshold in the longest format. If he accomplishes the feat, he will be the first fast bowler to do so and the third bowler overall in Test match history. The legendary English fast bowler has taken more wickets than only Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (709) combined.
