Is barcelona set have Haaland on board ?

The reason behind why Barcelona did not sign Erling Haaland.

Barcelona turned down Erling Haaland in 2019 to instead sign Kevin Prince Boateng on loan According to former sporting director Javier Bordas, Barcelona opted against signing Erling Haaland in 2019 and instead, made a loan transfer for KP Boateng.

Barcelona’s board ruled out the potential transfer of Erling Haaland because of the strained relationship the board shares with his agent.

Adding to the long list of Barca’s transfer failures, former director Javier Bordas revealed the club had an opportunity to sign Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg in January 2019. However, the Spanish side turned down Haaland, and instead, opted to sign Kevin Prince Boateng on loan from Sassuolo. Javier Bordas said several potential transfer targets were suggested to the hierarchy but were eventually turned down by former President Josep Maria Bartomeu. Speaking of failed Erling Haaland transfer, Bordas said, “Because they told me that he (Haaland) was not a Barca (type) player. “I understand that Bartomeu ignores the technical secretary, but the truth is that these players could have come, and then you don’t know what performance they are going to give.”

Erling Haaland’s agent is none other than the world-renowned Mino Raiola. Haaland’s agent charged Borussia Dortmund a sum of 15 million euros as a premium to sign the 19-year-old striker and Alf-Inge Haaland, a former footballer who is the father of Erling, received a sum worth 10 million euros for the move of Erling from the Red Bull Arena to Signal Iduna Park, according to El Desmarque. In addition to all the undisclosed fee’s that were made for Haaland’s move, the former RB Salzburg striker will also pull in a sum of 8 million euros a year as salary from Borussia Dortmund. Adding all the extra figures along with the Norweigian strikers’ salary, the figures are astronomical and no club would want to pay the same, including Barca.Another reason as to why Barcelona did not sign the European sensation was because of the strained relationship that the Blaugrana board share with the Mino Raiola.

The relationship was hampered after Mino Raiola’s client Matthijs de Ligt opted to move to Turin rather than playing at Camp Nou. Barcelona was not far away from signing the Dutch captain before Mino Raiola decided to pull the plug, as reported by El Desmarque.Mino Raiola pulled off another business mind trick by making it difficult for Dortmund to keep Erling Haaland for the future, as one of his conditions of the contract states that his termination clause on June 2021 would be 75 million euros, as claimed by El Desmarque. 75 million is a lot of money but when it is compared to the inflation in today’s market, especially for a number 9 that is so clinical, Haaland will be sold for a song in the market.
