England Test Captain Joe Root hopes to make IPL debut next year.

The England test captain joe root is expecting to make his debut in the IPL 2022 and will enter his name in the 2022 Mega Auction.

Root is yet to play in the IPL after going unsold in the auction 2018. There can be a chance for root in the next year, where two more teams will be included in IPL 2022.

According to the report, Root is looking to “enter the auction next year in an attempt to play in the competition for the first time and also boost his T20 World Cup hopes.”

The BCCI has decided to add two teams for the IPL 2022. That means another 16 slots will be up for overseas players to grab in the mega auction. We will see almost all the players goes under auction.

Root has expressed his feelings to be part of IPL last year even though he had decided entering against the auction. “At some point of my career, I am desperate to be a part of an IPL season. Hopefully, a few more beyond that as well. It is something I would love to experience, and love to be a part of,” he had said.

“With the amount of international cricket, and Test cricket in particular this year, didn’t feel like it was the right time (to enter the auction). I didn’t feel like I could throw all my energy into it, which it deserves. And, I don’t think it would set me up and set English cricket up best with what’s to come.”

Joe root was removed from England T20s squad this year. He has not played a T20I since 2019. Root was integral part to team’s run to the final in the 2016 edition, scoring 249 runs in 6 innings. He has scored 893 runs from 32 T20I at an average of 35.72
