After a difficult day at work, Bismah Maroof and company were criticised by the crowd for having one of the worst batting performances in the Commonwealth Games 2022. The lowest team score ever recorded during the Games is the 99 they scored in the T20 match against India.

The Pakistani women’s cricket team was outplayed by India in the opening T20 match at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Sunday, July 31. The decision to bat first against a formidable bowling outfit like India after winning the toss startled the Pakistani fans. With 32 off 30 balls, Muneeba Ali was their finest batter on display, which pretty well sums up their batting effort. Pakistani batswomen struggled to get going against players like Radha Yadav, Sneh Raha, and Deepti Sharma, with captain Bismah Maroof managing just 17 from 19 balls. Throughout the entire innings, Indian spinners kept them on the back foot until bowling them out for just 99.

Smriti Mandhana, the Indian opener, made light of the target while chasing it by scoring 63 runs off just 42 balls. With 8 wickets in hand, India completed the target chase in in 11.4 overs. Mandhana’s innings had an excellent strike rate of 150 and featured 8 fours and 3 sixes.
