The IPL 2022 would almost certainly have ten teams, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has set October 17 as the deadline for anyone interested in bidding for the two IPL teams.

BCCI has notified the claimants of three crucial dates, according to sources: September 21, October 5, and October 17. The day is only two days after the IPL final in Dubai and the first day of the T20 World Cup. The BCCI is thought to have informed interested bidders that the final date and location would be announced later.

Explanations on the matter may be obtained until September 21, and the ITT (Invitation To Tender) document can be purchased until October 5. The auction will most likely take place on October 17, and it has been announced that there will be no e-auction and that the traditional method of closed bidding will be used.

The first alteration will be that each team will play either 14 or 18 league games, with a minimum of seven home and away games guaranteed for each franchise.

The cash-rich competition now includes eight clubs, each of which plays seven home games and as many away games. In the altered scenario, however, there may be nine home games and nine away games. The BCCI is likely to stay at 14 games, leaving the possibility of 18 league games open under the agreement.

Not only that, relying on the timeframe available, the total number of league matches may be 74 or 94. There will be 74 games next year as a result of the alterations, with each side getting seven home and seven away games in a two-group system.

Each bidder must have a net worth of Rs 2500 crores and a revenue of Rs 3000 crores, according to the BCCI. In the case of a consortium, however, the BCCI will only accept three participants, one of whom must meet the aforementioned conditions. The basic price, according to sources, is Rs 2000 crore.

Cities open for IPL 2022 bidding process

Bidding is open for two to six cities, with Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Indore, Cuttack, Guwahati, and Dharamsala currently available. Few people are known to have purchased the ITT paper, according to several authorities. Sanjiv Goenka of the RPSG Group, who previously controlled the Pune franchise for two years, is one of them. The Lucknow squad is expected to be purchased by Goenka.

Teams will be required to pay 10% of the franchise cost every year for the next ten years as part of the process. After the 10-year term, they will be entitled to a 50% revenue share.

The franchises will also be required to contribute 20% of their earnings and will continue to receive 50% of the central pool of money at the end of each IPL season.
