On Wednesday, Bangladesh unveiled its team for the next ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Veteran and former captain Mahmudullah was noticeably absent from the team. Shakib Al Hasan will serve as the team’s captain. Many members of the Asia Cup team, including Parvez Hossain Emon, Anamul Haque, Mahedi Hasan, and Mohammad Naim, will not go to Australia due to their poor performance at the Asia Cup, which resulted in their elimination from the tournament in the Group Stage after losing both of their games against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
Mushfiqur Rahim, whose team was eliminated from the Asia Cup, has also been left off the roster. He just declared his retirement from the shortest format.
After being rejected from the Asia Cup squad, Litton Das, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Najmul Hossain Shanto have been summoned back to the team. After suffering a hamstring injury during the team’s trip of Zimbabwe, Das was unable to participate in the Asia Cup. He has since fully recovered. Nurul, who sustained a finger injury, has also completely recovered.
In addition to Rishad Hossain and Shak Mahedi Hasan, Soumya Sarkar and Shoriful Islam, who were a part of the team for the 2021 T20 World Cup last year, were only able to make it to the standby list.
Between October 7 and October 15, the same team will travel to New Zealand for a tri-series that also features Pakistan.
The ICC T20 World Cup will begin in 2022.
