Abhimanyu Mithun retires from all formats of cricket

Indian pacer from Karnataka has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket through instagram on 7 October 2021. The pacer has represented India in four tests and five ODIs, making his debut, in both format and played his last test and ODI in 2011.

The reason of his retirement, “After serious thought and contemplation. I, Abhimanyu Mithun have decided to retire from first class cricket in order to persue other avenues in my career. In this regard I would like to state as followes:

I have represented my country at the highest level and will be my biggest achievement. The joy and pride from it will be something I will cherish forever,” said Abhimanyu on Thursday.

He wants to seek better opportunities for himself and his family around the world and therefore wanted to retire at highest level. Mithun said.

Abhimanyu made his debut in Ranji Trophy, with his raw pace and fiery bounce against Uttar Pradesh in 2009. The youngster took haul of 11 wickets with a hat-trick. He played for Karnataka with passion and purpose, featuring in 103 first-class matches and bagged 338 wickets with 12 five-wicket hauls and two 10 wicket-hauls. The younster played an important role in domestic giants, national trophy wins in all three format back to back two Ranji Trophy victories.

Mithun’s International cricket and IPL:

The 31 year old made his debut Test against Sri Lanka in 2010. He played four test, And his last test was against West Indies. Mithun claimed nine wickets with best record of 4/105. The right-arm pacer made his ODI debut in 2010 against South Africa. His last ODI was against West Indies in 2011 and picked three wickets.

In 2009, he made his IPL debut from Royal Challenger bangalore, and played one match as well as in 2010 he only appeared for one match. In 2011 he played 12 games, averaged 64.20 and 9.44 economy rate.

Apart from good fast bowler he was a handy lower order batsman. KSCA has thanked Abhimanyu Mithun for his service to domestic cricket.
