Knight Riders team have one of the most capable and intimidating players among all the franchises. The team has all the notable spinners, batsmen, all-rounders and pacers on their side.
Team management will now be deciding to make some modification in the team for coming season. The franchise must be planning on to retain three players.
BCCI have decided that, respective team can only retain three players. In addition, it is being educated that the salaries of retained players will be deducted from their auction wallets before heading towards Mega Auction.
Let’s talk about the three players Kolkata Knight Riders may consider retaining before going into the auctions.
1) Andre Russell
Russell is one of the most dangerous players in T20 format. The all-rounder not only contains the ability to smash a ton in last 10 overs. But he can also pull of some crucial wickets by fast bowling at the death overs. Russell as known as one the most merciless finisher, KKR has always rely upon his smashing abilities to finish off an innings.
The all-rounder has caused batsmen to struggle in hitting boundaries against him in death overs. Russell has won the matches for team single-handedly in the past and possesses a huge ability to destroy the opponent’s bowling attacks.
2) Shubham Gill
The young Indian opener has performed exceptionally well for the country in Australia series. In the first of IPL Shubham failed to perform well. But, gill managed to live up to his hype in the second leg. He played some incredible innings and shown his calibre that he is one of the best openers.
KKR would want to retain him before the auction. The young batsman is bright prospect for KKR team in the future.
3) Varun Chakravarthy
The leg-spinner has constantly made headlines owing to his brilliant performance. In IPL 2021 season, Varun appeared as one of the most successful spinners in the tournament. He has bowled exceptionally well in the powerplay, middle overs or towards the end of the innings.
The 29-year-old scalped 16 wickets in 14 matches. Varun was selected in T20 squad for the Indian tour of Australia but he didn’t travel due to an injury. He was also called for the five match T20I series against England. But unfortunately, India had to drop the spinner because of his fitness concerns.
